Changes in ThreatFire v. 4.6:
Now Support Vista 64-Bit and Windows 7--
This new installer should install on supported 32-bit or 64-bit systems. Any users who have previous Vista 64-bit betas will need to do a full uninstall, reboot and then install this new version.
Enhanced Alerts--
ThreatFire’s alerts have been redesigned to provide you with both more information and more choice in how to respond to an alert.
New PC Security Check to Ensure Optimal Protection--
ThreatFire is only one part of a layered security strategy which should also include a current and active Firewall, AntiVirus, and Anti-Spyware. ThreatFire’s new PC Security Check will now run for any new ThreatFire installations. This quick scan will also perform a blacklist and cloud scan for threats to ensure your PC is not currently infected, since ThreatFire is not designed to clean up a previously infected PC. The scan will provide appropriate recommendations to help fix any security issues or to clean an infected PC. (When 4.6 is officially released, users updating from a previous version of TF will not see this scan, but will instead see a slightly different version in the release after TF 4.6.)
PC Tools News and Blog Updates--
A News view has been added to ThreatFire’s main program window. Here you’ll find the latest ThreatFire and Threat Expert blog feeds. Other updates and special announcements from PC Tools will also be found here.
Enhanced Malware Detection--
As always, ThreatFire 4.6 has added new rules and behavior profiles for detecting both known and unknown threat outbreaks to give you better protection in today’s constantly evolving threat landscape.
Pro Version No Longer Available--
ThreatFire now only offers one version which is still completely free for personal use.
Lastly, numerous previously reported issues and conflicts have been addressed.

- The new alerts feature a more intuitive and easier-to-understand layout.
- New “Kill this process” option has been added to all alerts except those for known malware. This new options allows you to “deny” or stop a process from performing a particular action without having to quarantine it. This should provide greater flexibility for those users wishing more control over their system.
- New File Activity Details link provides more information about the file that triggered an alert, including details on the process, any actions performed by the process, any registry keys created or deleted, and other information helpful in determining how to respond to the alert.
